Dogs

Plain, Prissy, Fuzzy
Not Penguins that live in the arctic,
 Nor rickety old chairs
 at your grandmother’s apartment.
They’re just dogs
They bark, chase tennis balls,
And fun to play with too!

Futurnious

Hi! I’m Futurnious (AKA: Morgan Gates). I have the ability to see the future. I know that sounds crazy, but when I was six months old an evil scientist stole me in the night. He started doing experiments on me. The rest is pretty self-explanatory. So one day when I was strolling through the park I had a vision. There was a girl my age dangling from my apartment building yelling “HELP! HELP! “I knew I had the ability to see the future so, I went to the police. They didn’t believe me. I knew I would have to do this on my own. That’s the moment I became Futurnious.
A few years later I have realized I have super speed too! Oh, and that girl dangling from the apartment building didn’t get hurt! I have been fighting crimes too. Like when I had a vision about a robbery in a jewelry store down town I was there right when it happened with the police.
I still do rescue/helping stuff too. Like just last week I rescued a boy from falling into a river. I’m not the kind of superhero that wears really tight tights and a speedo. But I do wear colorful skinny jeans and a t-shirt that says Futurnious. Being a superhero isn’t all fun and games though. It has late hours and is a lot of literal heavy lifting.
What I’m trying to say is that there are lots of cool and fun things about being a superhero. But it’s not all fun and games. Villains are hard to deal with especially when you’re talking about evil scientists. But there are some fun things like meeting the mayor and possibly getting the key to the city. There’s about a 50%/50% percentage of fun and hard work in the life of a superhero.

My Prissy Puppy

I have a puppy named Archie
He’s persistent when he needs a treat
Which happens when he potties
He’s also perky and prissy
When he plays with twice his size
Pit-Pat his little puppy paws go

Puppy Paws

Rain on the window
Is like the soft pit-pat of puppy paws
On  the hard tile floor

Candy Makers Book Review

How can the life is Sweet Candy Factory continue making candy when so much confusion rises? Logan, Miles, Daisy, and Phillip are in a candy making competition and so far nothing is what it seems. This competition appears to be a hard candy on the outside. Although on the inside it’s full of juicy secrets, revenge, and countless mishaps when the candy making competition tears people apart and slowly mends them back together.

This book is a mystery. I can’t tell you the secret, but I can tell you the facts. First Miles, Daisy, and Phillip arrive at the candy factory (Logan already lives there because he’s the candy maker’s son) once they have played around with the candy making machines two of them seem to leave and the other two have a sleepover together. Some stuff I can’t tell you about gets really jumbled up. A few days later and it’s time for the judging of the competition. Confusion rises, things get intense, and then they get explained.

Where this book takes place is called the Life is Sweet Candy Factory. The setting of this book isn’t sugar and spice and everything nice. The setting is much like the characters of the book (they both have secrets). But on the outside it is one of the most famous candy factories in America that smells like pure sugar.

Logan is a good kid, but he has a twist to him. He’s also thankful. He is more of a follower in the sense of personality. The reason that I know that is that he sits in bed every morning and thinks about what he’s thankful for.

Miles is, well… odd. He has a weird hobby of studying the afterlife. He also skaeps sdrawards (speaks backwards) But don’t tell anyone, he doesn't want anyone to know!

Phillip really isn’t who you think he is. He has a notepad that no one is allowed to read. He is also very adult-like and serious. He is, well I’m just going to say has a strong personality because I don’t want to be rude.

Daisy I saved for last because she’s my favorite. She has a HUMONGOUS twist in the book (not literally) She is a leader, but she is very sweet, yet also fair.

The author of The Candy Makers is Wendy Mass. She was born January 17, 1967. Some other books she has written are: A Mango shaped Space, Leap Day, Heaven Looks a Lot Like the Mall, and 11 Birthdays.
You might wonder what it’s like to be in a candy factory. It might not be what you expect. This book isn’t all sugar and spice and everything nice, but it’s a mysterious book that anyone who likes mysteries will love. Even though the author isn’t famous she did a fantastic job writing this book. The story held my attention so that I didn’t want to put this book down. My point is that The Candy Makers is one amazing book!

Jesus Camp

Edgel Vinson asked me to go to Jesus Camp with her. I was so excited when my mom said I could go! She warned me that it was going to be scorching hot, but I said I didn’t care. Her statement was true! Edgel, Gabriela, and I were the ones working at the craft shack. We had prepared for it by getting together about a month before and making duct tape creations.

It was the morning we were leaving and I was awake as fast as I possibly could be. I got ready, put my bags by the door, and waited.  We were almost ready to leave, but we just had to get her jewelry in the car (we were making jewelry too). I got in the passenger’s seat and we headed off.

When we got there, we got our beds ready and took our clothes and personal items out of her car. Then we headed over to the craft shack. It took us until lunch time to get all of the craft projects set up! After lunch it was time for the campers to come. Following that was a humid and sweaty afternoon in the craft shack, but we got to go swimming in the cool lake later. The bottom of the lake was mushy and murky, and there was seaweed! It was like the seaweed was wrapping itself around my legs!

One night after another hard day at camp, one of the other ladies had brought chocolate almond ice cream. We went out and ate it in the camp’s enormous, cold fridge. It felt amazing compared to the usual humid and sweaty environment! Afterwards, we went down to the dock and looked at the stars. They looked like jewels on a big ink blot! We found a few constellations like the little dipper. We also talked a little. That was my favorite time at Jesus Camp!

It was almost time to go home. The Hawaiian chicken for dinner on the last day of camp was delicious! We packed up our bedding and art supplies, and headed for the car. I had a great time, but was ready to see my precious puppy again. My parents came to get me at Edgel’s house. I was exhausted. I had a lot of fun and sweat that week. It is one experience I will never forget!

Santa Something

Hi I'm Archie the amazing adventurer. Many, many years ago I lived in Spain. The year was 1492. I was on Chris Columbus's boat it was the Santa something, but anyway I was his right paw dog. we had just reached shore and he had some fancy flag he was putting in the ground and said fancy words like "I hereby take this land for the queen of Spain." or something like that.

Some coo-coo people started coming out of the bushes. They did not have pantaloons like we did, and they did not speak correctly they sounded like cavemen. Chris called me over to where he stood and said we were going to have to get rid of these people and so I gathered the troops and said we must fight these then natives signed symbol and we thought that was a symbol of peace, it was. Then we went on our joyous way. Weirdly dressed, and peculiar talking people.

Then we attacked! Chris yelled "STOP!" and said we must settle this dispute peacefully. He had made a piece treaty out of some paper and a pen and signed it.
